"The Dark Room" Takes Best Film At Hanoi International Film Festival

The Dark Room

"The Dark Room" competed amongst 12 other films at its release time in Asian Cinemas, but at the Hanoi International Film Festival, it stuck it out against 145 other films.

The storyline for "The Dark Room" follows "Farhad and Haleh, together with their 5-year-old son, Amir, have recently moved into a new complex. Amir gets lost in the desert in front of the complex, and after his parents find him, he tells his father that someone has seen his body and this makes Farhad very upset. Farhad is looking for a suspect who has sexually harassed his little boy."

As for the film festival,  it is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Hanoi. HANIFF has been running once every two years since 2010 in the capital city of Hanoi.

The Cinema Department also strives to position Vietnam as a location filming hub. To introduce the beauty of locations, HANIFF organized a tour for the international and local festival guests to explore Ninh Binh Province, a location used in Hollywood blockbuster "Kong: Skull Island." A new film commission is in the pipeline to offer assistance to international productions that will come into the country to film.
